Celebrating Our Scholarship Recipients
We are proud to honor the exceptional students who have received the ABSW Foundation Scholarship. Their dedication to social work and commitment to making a positive impact in their communities inspire us all. Here are some of our recent scholarship recipients:

JaNaye Granberry
She was hired as a Social Worker for Homeless Outreach with the Community Engagement and Reintegration Service (CERS) at the VA Hospital, covering SPAs 1, 2, 4, and 6. Additionally, she has been approved for Strength At Home (SAH) training to become an SAH Clinician. This 12-week, trauma-informed program aims to prevent and end intimate partner violence (IPV) among veterans.

Brionna Kirkendoll
She was honored as the ABSW Foundation Scholarship recipient for 2019. She began her social work graduate journey in 2018 at the University of Southern California (USC) and graduated with her MSW in August 2020, achieving an overall GPA of 3.97 and obtaining her Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC).
After graduation, she became a clinical therapist at Wellness Emotional Health and Wellnest, where she started her licensure hours as an ACSW, providing psychotherapy in various settings. She then transitioned to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, working with adults in an inpatient setting. In October 2023, she became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and continues her role at Cedars-Sinai while also providing 1:1 therapy to teen clients.

Omarri Beck
This past school year, Omarri served as an interim therapist and group facilitator for Shields for Families, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of families. At the Multi-Service Center in Long Beach, he co-facilitated group workshops and provided one-on-one therapy under the Black Mental Health program. His workshops covered topics like S.M.A.R.T. Goals, writing affirmations through poetry, social-emotional coping strategies, and navigating social benefits.
Additionally, Omarri served as a Student Outreach Coordinator for UCLA's MSW program, leading the annual Diversity Fair and Admitted Student Welcome Day. He also worked as a Teaching Assistant for UCLA's Sociology Department during the winter and spring quarters of 2024.

Claudorian Brown
Claudorian Brown holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Tuskegee University and a Master of Social Work from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). During her time at CSUDH, she was awarded the ABSW Foundation Scholarship in the Fall of 2021 and 2022. Claudorian currently works as a Full Service Partnership (FSP) Child Therapist at Tessie Cleveland Community Center, providing individual and group therapy to children and families in the community. She is accumulating licensure hours with the goal of becoming licensed and ultimately transitioning into a leadership role.
